itanic Director James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ in Telugu

For about 12 years, James Cameron, one of the highly respected directors of Hollywood, who has to his credit great movies like ‘Aliens,’ ‘Terminator 2’ and ‘Titanic,’ hasn’t made a full length movie. His last film ‘Titanic,’ released in the year 1997, is still the highest grosser in the history of Movie Business. The film, which was a massive hit all over the world, collected a total of $1.8 billion. In India, the film, though a non-Indian make (Hollywood film), ran from 50 to 100 days even in small towns. And to talk about the performance of the film in our capital city, Hyderabad, it successfully completed 365-day run in the old Sai Kishore Theatre (Narayanguda).

James Cameron, the director with such a high profile, after a long, long gap, is coming with yet another wonderful Audio-Visual Master Piece ‘Avatar.’ It is a 3-D science fiction epic scheduled for release worldwide on 18 December by 20th Century Fox.

'Avatar' (Sanskrit term) means incarnation of the God. It may be in a human form or an animal or a half-human and half-animal. The film produced by Lightstorm Entertainments is based on a war on a very distant planet, Pandora, between the Na'vi, the natives of Pandora and humans for existence and planet’s resources. According to James Cameron, the film is a blend of live action and computer generated elements in the ratio 40:60. Made with a whopping budget of about $230 million, ‘Avatar’ is said to be the costliest film ever produced.

The film will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats. This big film is also being released in Telugu. Tagore Madhu acquired movie rights for Telugu screening.

Anjaneyulu - Telugu Movie Review

Anjaneyulu (Ravi Teja) works for a TV channel as a reporter. Anjali (Nayana Tara) works for a mobile services company. Bada (Sonu Sood) is a mafia leader in Hyderabad. Surya (Brahmaji)- a honest reporter from the same TV channels unearths a murder motive which is linked to Bada. The rest of the story is all about how Anjaneyulu infiltrates the gang of mafia to get the proofs.
Artists Performance

Ravi Teja: It amazes me how Ravi Teja can come up with such a fresh and extraordinary performance for the similar roles in each and every movie. He has been playing similar kind of roles and similar characterizations for over 7 years since Idiot and he manages to look fresh and agile with different portrayal of the same character. Ravi Teja is simply superb and he carried the entire movie on his shoulders.

Others: Nayana Tara is adequate. She didn't have an important role in this movie except for appearing five minutes before songs. Her make-up and styling is not good. Sonu Sood is perfect as the gangster. Prakash Raj did a guest role in an impressive character. Brahmaji gets an author-backed role and he is excellent. Brahmanandam does another hilarious character of Prabha (creative head of TV) and he is very good. Kota Srinivasa Rao excelled as a senior mafia kingpin. MS Narayana did the side-splitting comedy as a producer who makes 2-week movies and wants them to promote as 100-days films on TV channels. Srinivasa Reddy, Nassar and Sana are good. Tarzan got a meaty role and he performs well. Raja Ravindra got a lengthy role after a long gap. Kim Sharma did an item song.

Technical Departments

Story - Screenplay - Directon: Director Parasuram (Bujji) seems to have taken a leaf out of his guru Puri Jagan's Pokiri to have the theme of infiltration in this movie. The basic story of the movie only happens in the second half. Parasuram succeeded in getting the entertainment part right in the movie by making Ravi Teja deliver the right output. He handled the entertainment part and action sequences well. He also has good grip over the commercial aspect of movie making. However, he couldn't get the right feel in sentiment and romance episodes. He should have handled the second half better. Parasuram has penned very good dialogues. His comedy dialogues are good and his serious dialogues are strong (ex: vetagaadu weak aithe jinka kaletthi edo choopinchindanta). There are a couple of disturbing scenes (hospital episode where hero speaks with parents and the fight of bones coming out).

Other Departments: Music scored by Thaman is adequate. Cinematography by Ravindra Babu is ok. Dialogues by Parasuram are very good. Editing is satisfactory. Fights composed by Ram Lakshman are good, but second half fight in which bones come out is little disturbing to watch.

Analysis: First half of the movie is entertaining though there is a bit of double meaning comedy. The second half should have been handled better. The plus points of the movie are entertainment provided by Ravi Teja and good dialogues. On a whole, Anjaneyulu has entertainment and good commercial ingredients. Being Ravi Teja's highest-print release, Anjaneyulu has chances to become a winner at box office.

Review

Story

It’s the story of two friends Arya (Arjun) and Ajay (Navadeep) who fall in love with same girl Geeta (Kajal).

Arya’s possessiveness for Ajay is the underlined aspect in this movie. But Ajay never likes Arya. Despite, he places him in his company for not being able to bear his torture.

Geeta comes as colleague in their office and story starts from then. But Rajireddy (Mukesh Rishi), the father of Geeta arranges her marriage with the son of another factionist. Arya takes the responsibility to cancel that wedding and enters the village. He says to Ajay that he would bring Geeta for him. How things turn from there…falls rest of the plot.

Artists Performance:

Allu Arjun appeared confusing in the film. His obsession for his friend Ajay has projected him on the lines of a ‘gay’, and many in theatre shouted the word! That’s because of mishandling of narration. On the other hand his contrast in characterization is disgusting. Sometimes he looks convincing and many times confusing. Director should be questioned for that.

Although Navadeep is a very able actor in delivering histrionics he was not given that chance by the director. His character remained dull through out. Telugu Movie Reviews

Kajal looked innocent, beautiful and charming while Shraddha Das glued some oozing glamour to screen.

‘Ringa Ringa..’ girl has got glowing skin but lacked in raunchy appeal that’s required for an item girl. Others are ok in their shoes.

While every department worked with all dedication it’s the flaw of director that marred the film. Cinematography, Choreography and Music stood high but the director made a confused concoction and ruined entire show. He got confused with screenplay part in second half.

Final Analysis:

It’s the movie released with many expectations but finally ended up as a disappointment. The masses in theatres yelled like hell when the show has begun but slowly turned pale and passive as the movie is rolling on.

Many are seen walking out of theatres either for a puff of smoke or relax in rest rooms especially in second half. First half is a bit ok. Only songs stood as saving grace by the virtue of Allu Arjun’s dances and music.

Coming to the essence in the movie, it has given many negative signs on a whole: The following doubts would light in the minds of audience:

* Is the protagonist a sadist or a gay or a mentally imbalanced one?
* Is the heroine character-less who runs behind any man who sheds tears for her?
* Is the director conveying that marriage ritual has no significance?
* Is the director introducing the wife-swapping subject on Telugu screen?
* Is the director confused totally?

Story

The much talked about Doomsday or end of the world has been predicted and while all developed nations of the world think it is a long time away, the Indian astrophysicist Satnam (Jimi) discovers that the end is quite near. Telugu Movie Reviews

Who survives the massacre? What happens after that? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

John Cusack He did his role as required and though he doesn’t have that tough guy image, he tried his best to fit in the role of a concerned father.

Chiwetel Ejiofor He plays a key role and though he was not that effective during the emotional scenes, he managed to make his presence felt in other sequences.

Amanda Peet Looks hot and sexy and though there is no room for glamour here and she plays the mother of two, her oomph factor is neat and she has delivered a good performance.

Others Thandie Newton was alright, Danny Glover was decent, Woody Harrelson was a wreck, Oliver Platt did justice to his bit, Thomas Mc Carthy was evil enough, Beatrice Rosen was sexy to the core. The others did their bit as required.

Final Analysis:

It is the most hyped movie from the past few months and entire world has been more worried, anxious and longing to watch what’s shown on silver screen. The myriad blogs, web portals and TV shows those have been active from many months have turned a default publicity agents for this movie that has released today.

The film didn’t convey anything concrete about Mayan Calendar or about prophesies of clairvoyant sages those had delivered about this 2012 dooms day. The maker has directly moved to the catastrophe that’s going to happen in the form of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions et al and their unbelievable impact on life on earth.

Arya 2 Audio Review

Film: Arya 2
Rating: 3.5/5
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Chandrabose, Vanamali and Kedarnath
Director: Sukumar
Producers: Dil Raju and Aditya Babu

The film ‘Arya 2’ is gearing up to hit the screens soon and meanwhile, the audio release happened recently. Few songs were already leaked on the net few months back but here is the formal review of how the songs are.

Ringa Ringa
This is the highlight song of the album and it has already created a magic in the chartbusters. The lyricist for this is Chandrabose and the singer for this is Priya Hemesh. Music has been composed by Devisri Prasad and it is a typical mass beat number with excellent vocals and background chorus. A good mix of lyrics, music and vocals, the song is worthy to take the CD. The song would be the most popular one if the movie also becomes a hit. But there are some lines in the lyrics those appear to have crossed the border of decency.

He Loves U So Much
This is another interesting song in the album and the first feel of it reminds you of the song ‘vaalu kalla vayyari…’ from the movie ‘Mass’. The beat has been set by Devisri like that and eventually it takes a melody turn. He has also provided the vocals and the words have been well woven by the lyricist Chandrabose. This is more of a melody number and the flute plays a key role in this. The flavor of romance is good in this.

Mr Perfect
A fast beat number and this time; one can see the feel of the movie ‘Jalsa’. Kedarnath has given the lyrics and his combo of English words with Telugu is alright. This is more of a rap duo and the major vocals were given by Baba Sehgal while Rita Ganguly provided the female vocals. The beat is quite moderate and there is not much energy in this one. Devisri has given a constant beat and changed the upper tunes with folk and western beats.

My Love Is Gone
A fast beat number, this is more of a techno number and it has got a good mix of beats and vocals. The dance flavor is high in this one and it will go well with the youth. The lyricist for this is Chandrabose and he has used simple words that will appeal. Ranjith has given high energy to the vocals and Devisri as usual gave the western touch to it.

Karige Loga
This is an emotional number and though the song is fast paced, the lyrics by Vanamali have embedded well with the tune. There is a flavor of melody given by Devisri in this and the duet has been rendered by the duo of Kunal and Megha. Megha in particular has given a new feel to the vocals and it really had a tender touch. This is more for those who are in love. But others find it hard to enjoy this song. It will not haunt much anyway.

Uppenantha
An average number, the lyrics have been penned by Balaji and Kay Kay has given the vocals for this. Devisri has given a constant background score again and used guitar to a great extent. The impact of this song will depend on how it has been picturised and otherwise, it will be a regular number in the album.

Mr. Perfect (DSP Mix)

This is the trademark song of Devisri just as he does with almost every album he composes. A remix song, the lyrics have been given by Kedarnath and Devisri has rendered his voice for the song. The energy is high in this one and unlike the rap feel in the original, this is more of a regular pace and DSP has given his effects.

Overall, the album has got all trendy songs and there are no slow numbers. Two songs (‘Ringa Ringa’ and ‘He loves you so much’) are absolutely brilliant in terms of composition, lyrics and vocals and they make buying the CD worth. The youth audience will be able to relate to this very well and since the audio is already causing a positive feel, the expectations on the film are high as well.

'Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi' Tarun Next Movie Title

Tarun’s upcoming movie with vimala raman was titled as Chukkalanti Ammayi Chakkanaina Abbayi. The film successfully completed its shooting and presently post-production work is going on.

The movie was jointly producing by Raj Kumar Harwani and Gogineni Srinivas Rao under Supreme Movies banner. Kanmani directing this movie. The dialogues for this romantic entertainer are written by Gangotri Vishwanath and it has music my Anoop Rubins. Telugu Movie News

The romantic numbers and the scenes picturised in Bangkok are the highlights of this flick.

The audio is expected to hit markets during the end of November and the film is due for December release.

Ram Charan Dating With Neha?

Neha Sharma, a model from Delhi made her screen debut with the Telugu film “Chirutha” which was the launching pad for Ram Charan Tej. Though this film directed by Puri Jagannath did not do up to expectations at the box office, the on screen chemistry between Ram Charan and Neha was very obvious. Telugu Actress Gossips

Evenwhile, the shooting of “Chirutha” there were rumours that Ram Charan and Neha have eloped and married. Later, Neha did not accept any film either in Tollywood or Bollywood, which gave credence to the buzz that Ran Charan does not want Neha to pursue a film career.

There were many reports in the media that both the actors had been meeting secretly particularly during the shooting of “Kurradu” where Neha Sharma played the lead with Varun Sandesh.

However, eyebrows went up when Ram Charan Tej was the chief guest at the Audio release function of “Kurradu” and both he and Neha were seen more than being just cordial to each other.

Neha says that Ram Charan is a good friend and that’s all. Ram Charan says that Neha is the most promising artiste. Neha, meanwhile signed up Mukhesh Bhatt’s untitled production opposite Serial Kisser Emraan Hashmi to be directed by Mohit Suri.

Chit chat with Sonia

Introduced with ''Happy Days'' Sonia made her first bow as an actress and widely acclaimed for the enacting the role Shravs. Her next endeavor was as a heroine with Krishnudu playing the lead in the film ''Vinayakudu'' directed by Saikiran Adivi. The film is presented by Premkumar Patra on Prem Movies banner produced by Smt Saritha Patra. This is Sonia''s first venture as the heroine after being among the cast group in her previous flick.

Shooting of ''Vinayakudu'' is completed and is getting ready to be released soon. On this occasion indiaglitz.com had a chit chat with Soni. Here it is for you…

How did you get the opportunity in 'Vinayakudu'

I went abroad after completing 'Happy Days' in Shekhar Kammula's direction. When I was back Sai Kiran narrated me the script of 'Vinayakudu', and offered me the main lead role. I was impressed by the script and expressed my consent to do the film.

What is it that you liked in the subject of Vinayakudu?

Firstly I was in love with the character that was offered to me, it is neat through out and is a role that lingers in your heart for long. This is the reason that made me accept to enact this role. Secondly I liked the script immensely, I would have watched it in the theatre, even if someone else have done the role in this film.

Tell us about your character in Vinayakudu

It is one of a dominating and sensitive girl's role. It is more of a matured role compared to mine in 'Happy Days'. The character dominating yet is soft and sensitive will stir a good feel for the spectators.

Are there any similarities to your role as Sravs in 'Happy Days'

This as I told you is a dominating and sensitive character which displays anger also, unlike mine in 'Happy Days' which is only dominating. Other than that, this are in no way similar to the one I played erstwhile.

Who is playing the title role (Vinayakudu)?

Krishnudu is playing the title role in this film. He is calm natured and has done his work in a very cute manner. Even the dialogues that pose a punch was delivered very salient by him.

How does Vinayakudu feel like?

The fun of seeing it with your very own eyes will be lost in the sequence, if I explain how it is rendered. One should definitely watch it in the theatres if they are curious about the way it is presented.

How is the music in Vinayakudu?

It is soft and melodious. To be more specific they are all good to enjoy during a long-drive.

Did you find any difference in the subject, comparing when it was initially narrated by Saikiran and then when you watched it on screen?

I liked the subject a lot when Saikiran narrated it to me. Now the shooting is completed and the dubbing part is in the finishing stage. I feel what ever he narrated to me, has been neatly presented on screen. I am sure this will be a successful venture.

What kind of a movie is Vinayakudu?

This is a romantic comedy entertainer. It will entertain adults and children alike who will also enjoy the humor in this film.

Your next commitments

I am looking forward to good movies post 'Vinayakudu'. The roles which I am capable of doing, and that which are serene and feel-good are the genre which I am looking forward to do in the near future.

Can you be more specific about what kind of roles you would like to do

I am now at the beginning of my career. At this point of time I feel that, the character I work for should be such that, the role should linger in the minds of the audiences even after the end of the movie. It should evoke comments that I have portrayed the role well. So, my present aim is to achieve such a position.

How did you celebrate the Vinayaka Chavithi this time.

The same way as any Hindu would celebrate it.

Did you had the ambition to become an actress

This has happened accidentally, and I didn't reach this point with any prerequisite plans. When director Shekhar Kammula was conducting the audition tests, I participated with an easy going attitude just for the sake of fun. I never expected myself to become an artist.

How is the support from your family?

Members of my family and friends encouraged me in my new venture. They also gave me few suggestions on my career and the type of films I act. However, I did only what I felt like doing. They all believe that once I make up my mind and select to do something I will do it with perfection.

Ram Charan: “Dad Gave Me Breathless Hug”

Ram Charan is now the hero of the season with the triumphant success of ‘Magadheera’ at box office. He shares his feelings in an exclusive interview to indiaglitz.

How are you relishing the success of Maghadheera?

First of all I would like to thank all the audiences for making the film such a big hit and am extremely happy for that. I normally am a pretty cool person and tension is something that I am not very familiar with but I have to admit that I felt a bit tense days before ‘Maghadheera’ is to hit the screens. The credit usually goes to the captain of the ship, the director. But ask Rajamouli garu and he credits each and every person that worked for the film. So this film wouldn’t have been the phenomenon that it is today had it not been for the hard work of all the technicians, the artists and everybody that worked for the film and we are all enjoying the success and everybody deserves the film’s success. More than anything else it’s the vision of director Rajamouli garu in casting me, as frankly, I was very apprehensive to star in such a big budget movie as it is only my second movie. So I would also like to thank Mama (Allu Aravind) for the trust he had on me. Moreover, the film’s success gave me and the entire unit a level of confidence that hard work and experimentation will definitely be appreciated by the audience. This is very reassuring for us. As far as my work is concerned, I especially liked scenes involving my horse riding. Some of these shots are very intricate but I never even gave a passing thought to it as I was driven by my passion all the while. In fact, I related each of those scenes to my personal life as I grew up with fascination on movies like Indiana Jones and the likes. I absolutely loved working for this film. Personality wise there isn’t really much difference to Kalabhairavudu but I have to tell you minor changes like the shape of my moustache, a slight voice modulation, the background scale, the atmosphere and even the ‘Chandrabindu’ worked wonders on screen and gave a totally different look and feel and I felt like it was an altogether different side of me. When I was told of the characterization of ‘Kalabhairavudu’, I had an impression of a young, passionate soldier and naturally it had to have a great body and an authoritative voice. So, we also worked on it. The most important thing is the hard work of all the 200 technicians that went into the shooting of the film as at the end of the day their work is forgotten and it’s usually the director or the actor that gets the recognition but ‘Maghadheera’ is technically in a class of its own and one can clearly see their mark and no wonder the audiences are spellbound. The credit goes to those humble technicians. I have to say about ‘Badal’. The horse was literally picked up in the deserts of Rajasthan. It was one of my favorite studs so much so that I still have it and plan to keep it with me. To start with, the horse wasn’t fully trained and still had significant wildness to it but we wanted to retain its wildness as the characterization, the chariot races and the likes demand it and training only makes horses sober. Though it is very risky to ride a horse that isn’t ful

How was shooting in Rajasthan and all those costumes?

We actually went to Rajasthan and observed the local culture and their way of dressing, we researched a lot about their costumes, history and great personalities 400 years ago and planned it accordingly. So I am very happy with the way things turned out and I absolutely loved the costumes.

What about the graphics?

‘Maghadheera’ is the first Telugu film to use 3D animation. But I personally feel that graphics are used a lot in films of late, almost to the point of abuse. I think they should actually blend with the story of a film so much so that they should seem pretty natural. In fact when I was watching ‘Maghadheera’ there are shots in the film that actually confused me because the graphics looked so natural and only my knowledge that there aren’t any such palatial palaces at my shoot made me realize that they are graphics and am sure that they will get lot of awards next year.

Tell us about the unit?

Everybody took a lot of care for me. Perun master absolutely loves his work and is so dedicated that he himself tests out a feat 2 – 3 times even though people like him have the luxury of delegating work to assistants. Now things like these give the actor a lot of confidence to do the shot. They ensured that the entire shoot was absolutely safe for me and so I am very thankful to them. It was a good experience to work with Senthil. He is so silent that one hardly notices him on the set. Normally, people come up with all sorts of ideas to waste the producer’s money but Senthil is different. He made a one crore set look like 3 crore set in this movie. That’s his talent, his vision and on top of everything else he’s got such a powerful eye that he makes an ordinary set look like a marvel through his lens. Hats off to the cameraman for his work as the audiences are spellbound with the sets. We also went into so much detail with my armour, which was custom made to suit my body contours, with the knifes, spears all actually look like real shining metal but were in fact made with fiber. The details worked well and we’ve been getting rave reviews from the audiences.

Tell us about your dance in this movie?

I have done a good job as far as my dancing is concerned in Chirutha. But in this film I have discovered a new facet of me. My director and choreographer encouraged me with different movements and he gave me a lot of freedom with my movements so much so that I practiced 3-4 alternate movements for every step and at the end the result of all that hard work is well appreciated by the audiences.

How did your dad like the movie?

Dad got a special screening after the completion and after watching the film he came to me and hugged me so tightly that I was almost breathless. That showed how much he liked the film and it made me loose all tension about the success of the film. He appreciated my stunts by saying that I achieved in one film what he achieved in 50 films. He asked me why I took such big risks. He felt bad, scolded me and literally did everything else except beating me for it. What if something unforeseen happened? But by God’s grace nothing happened.

Tell us about the music?

Special mention must be made of Keeravani’s music. It is just great and blends so well with the story. He is legend and I am very happy to work with him.

What do you think made the movie stand apart?

The real star of the film is the story. Most films these days falter at the box office these days due to lack of content. But our film’s strength is the core content. People are appreciating my film saying that the fights are good, horse riding is great and that the dance is just awesome. I sat back once and thought what made the difference? The answer is the story. It bound all these things well and ensured that the audiences are given a treat. The content, the core content is the real strength and everything else worked because of it.

How was the experience of working with your dad?

Dad, when he took the political path, I felt that I will never get a chance to work with him. I used to be very jealous of Abhishek Bachhan and Amitabh Bachhan and always wanted to work with my dad for the entire length of a movie. I once shared this desire with my director and he was like Charan ‘if u could really convince your dad, then there is a special slot in the movie, which he could only do. It is specially designed for him.’ I took the proposal, went to dad and it took me a week to convince him. Working with sridhar garu was like working with a family member; he was like a brother and made me very comfortable. He used to personally check the entire shoot. I once asked him ‘sir why should u look into all these? These things will be taken care of by the people concerned.’ He said ‘you are my responsibility and should anything happen to you when I am around I will have to sorry for your dad.’ He used to take such care of me. He treated me like a son.
Tell us about Kajal?

Language grip is an important part of the film. Kajal, I don’t know whether she actually learnt the language or already knew the language but her dialogue delivery is perfect, which made other artists very comfortable. She is very professional. She has a long way to go and I am sure she will stay around for a long time as she is a perfect girl for a director to work with on the sets.

Any message for your fans?

Once again I would like to thank all my fans for making the film such a big hit. It is a great gift for me and my family. Thanks a lot.

“I Stopped Reacting To Gossips” : Trisha Interview

Actress Trisha has let out many things from her heart in an exclusive tete-tete with indiaglitz.com. Here is it for our dear readers…

How do you manage your schedules, especially while working in both Tamil and Telugu?

Right now I don’t sign too many films. I only sign two films at a time and so it is quite easy to manage. And I work for 20 -22 days a month so this way I always have some free days in case someone meets and wants to finish any backlogs. I don’t work like before and am very choosy about films these days. In fact I haven’t signed anything new as of now. I have put everything on hold for the time being and am waiting for something exciting, a film that gives me a really good character. So it is always easy to manage and I have got used to working in both the languages and divide my time equally between Chennai and Hyderabad.
You are looking much more glamorous…

Oh really!! Thank you very much for that. All I would say is that I have got a little more conscious of my health, my diet, workouts and the likes. I think it hits you at some point in your life and everybody seems to be so health conscious these days. I mean every actor and actress they end at the gym all the time and I think that it is really important to feel good. Am saying this not just as an actress but as a person I feel that it is really important to be fit.

Have you signed any Bollywood films?

Yeah, I have signed a deal with Akshay Kumar’s home productions. It is a three film deal and the first one is to be directed by Priyadarshan, who is my mentor. In fact, he is the one who launched my film career. And I have no plans to move to Bollywood. I have signed the deal because I wanted to do something different and I really wanted to do a film with Priyan again. I generally don’t plan as I believe in taking each day as it comes. So I don’t really have any future plans as of now.

Aren’t most of the characters in Hindi glamorous?

No, I don’t see it that way and I beg to differ. The advantage that you’ve got with Hindi films is that there is lot of variety in female characters. You take the case of Priyanka Chopra in ‘Fashion’, which is a very glamorous role and is followed by a different portrayal in ‘Kaminey’. I love the way they portray female characters and being glamorous isn’t a sin after all people that is what people want to see. I think decent glamour is a necessity in a film.

Do you think actresses get equally important roles when compared with the heroes?

No definitely not. It is very rarely that heroines get to do roles that are very important. But you have to accept the fact that the film industry is male dominated and heroes are given more important characters. But these days there are certain filmmakers who feel the need to give importance to the role of a heroine and get the best performance out of her and I have been lucky to get a chance to work with filmmakers like these all along my career.

Are you planning to do a powerful character like Anushka’s in ‘Arundhati’?

I think ‘Arundhati’ is a great film and it is very rarely that a heroine gets to do a film like that. I would love to be part of a film like that. It really was a great boost to Anushka. But then there are a lot of female centric characters and you have to choose one that is really good. So if I do come across something then I will definitely be interested.

Any reason behind you signing all your films opposite established stars?

There is no reason as such. I haven’t been offered any role opposite a newcomer in the recent past. I am very choosy about my characters. I look for good role even under a big banner and these days my number one priority is the director. If it is a good director then more than anything else I would be interested in the film irrespective of it being opposite any newcomer or an established star.

Would you mind doing art films?

Yeah I would like to. Had you asked me the question a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have been sure. I was very happy doing commercial films. I liked all those roles, the dance, the drama and the likes. I am at that stage of my career where I can afford to be choosy and pick one that is really different.

What about the recent gossips circulating on the web?

I have stopped reacting to gossips. I just look at it this way- for an artist, any publicity, be it good or bad, is publicity. At least you are spoken about and are very popular. I just smile at those and ignore them completely.

What have you learnt from the industry as an artist over the years?

All I would say, to be very honest, is that I have learnt to treat acting like any other 9-6 job. It is so important to know when to detach yourself and when to attach yourself. I absolutely love my work and after I am done with it, I am totally cut off. I mean I have my own life, my friends and other things to do. So that’s about it.

Any social awareness campaigns that you are associated with?

I have a fan club started by a group of girls from Tamil Nadu. I generally don’t believe in fan clubs and am not very appreciative of the idea because I don’t believe in hyping up a film or the actors or the likes. But this fan club is something I really do appreciate because it is involved in a lot of social awareness campaigns, especially for cancer. They adopt a lot of children and do a lot of charity. Whenever I am free I love to give whatever support that I can and if I get publicity for being associated with some of these social awareness campaigns then it is really great. Again these people don’t put up hoardings and the likes at the theatres whenever a film of mine releases. Instead, they go to a cancer hospital; spend time with the kids and the likes. So that is something that I absolutely love to be involved with and it is very encouraging.

What is your take on the fact that all directors are behind glamour?

It is not true that all directors are behind glamour. I don’t see it that way because what audience want when they go to watch a film is a lot of color, brightness and glamour and there is nothing wrong in giving it to them as long as you know where to draw the line and long as it isn’t vulgar or something like that. As far as I am concerned, if I go to watch a film, I would love to see a lot of brightness, well dressed actors and actresses and the likes. As far as directors are concerned, I don’t believe that everyone looks for glamour. I have come across some wonderful people who only want to get a performance out of you, want you to look good and who do everything to project you well. I think glamour is a very important aspect of a film and is not something that should be treated as bad as long as you know where to draw the line.

Your take on the Bikini trend?

Honestly, I think the whole bikini trend has become a big joke because it is not a big deal. I mean if you are comfortable wearing it, have a great body and the film demands it then go ahead because there is nothing wrong in it. Personally, I am not very comfortable wearing one. So that’s it.

Magadheera 100Days Function With Rs 3 Cr

The mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ recently reached another milestone when it completed 100 days successfully. The film has created history not just in the Telugu circuit but throughout the nation given its genre and the visual impact. Now, another impact is likely from producer Allu Aravind. Dasari Movie shooting Begins

Dasari Narayana 149th film in direction ‘Young India’ was formally launched at Ramoji Film City recently. Presented by Dasari Padma, the film is being produced by Ramakrishna Prasad under the banner of Siri Media Pvt Ltd. Noted artiste and producer Manchu Mohanbabu gave the clap for the muhurat shot, while noted director Raviraja Pinisetty switched on the camera for the muhurat shot. Telugu Movie News

Speaking on the occasion, director Dasari says, “The US and the UK are utilizing the human resources from our country. But the youth in our country should not only restrict themselves for just jobs. They should remain the compasses for the future of our country. When we released an advertisement for new artistes for our film, we have received a record 22,000 applications. Of them we scrutinized 540 applications and held interviews. We selected 81 artistes for our film. We held a workshop for all these debutants and gave them training in acting, dances and dialogue modulation. We are very happy to introduce these many artistes through our film. Our film would remain a fitting lesson that there are no heroines in Telugu who could play in Tollywood films.”

Producer says, “We are planning a 60-day non-stop schedule and the shooting would be undertaken in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Mumbai.’ But for the five days, during which Dasari attend the Parliament, there won’t be any break in the shooting.”

The specialty is that Dr Dasari had started his all-time great film ‘Swargam-Narakam’ with all new faces on the same day some 35 years ago and it was a massive hit during those days. Moreover, Dasari-Keeravani combination is repeating after a long gap. There are a total of six songs and of them, recording of four songs was complete. Camera is by Ch Ramana Raju, editing is by Gauthamraju, art is by B Venkateswara Rao, action is by Rakhee Rajesh and Ram-Lakshman, and music is by MM Keeravani, while story, dialogues, screenplay and direction are by Dasari Narayana Rao.

Jayeebhava Telugu Movie Review

Energetic star Nandamuri Kalyanram has been looking for a hat trick with his third venture since it is from his home banner. Whether he was able to fulfill his goal or not, let us see.

Ram (KalyanRam) lives his life abroad from a long time and the reason for that is his father Bhavani Shankar (Mukesh) who is a dreaded person in India. However, he does good for the people but has a rival in Narasimha (Jayaprakash reddy). Whenever they clash, the issue is settled by the big don Yadu (ashish) who lives in Hong Kong. However, Bhavani’s father (Chalapathi rao) calls Ram to come to India. He also reveals that both Bhavani and Narasimha were best friends once upon a time but got separated due to the evil plans of Yadu. Ram decides to teach Yadu a lesson and goes to Hong Kong. He is successful in his attempt and also falls in love with Anjali (Hansika), fashion designer. He returns to India and so does Anjali. However, they realize that Anjali is the daughter of Narasimha. Ram hatches a plan and he decides to get the sworn enemies together. Whether he is successful or not forms the rest of the story.

It is a story that is mixed with comedy and there is not much of seriousness. The real credit for the movie goes to the presentation as it was made with good approach however the narrative could have been better. The dialogues were alright, script was written but it could have been held tightly, screenplay was fast.

Background score was suitable and songs were racy and fast, two songs were good. The real hero of the film is the cinematography which looked stylish and hep. Editing was okay but it could have been better. Costumes were nice, art department was impressive in songs. Fights were upto the mark.

Kalyanram was regular with his act and there is not much emotional expression in him, his body language needs to be filled with more energy levels.

Hansika was truly gorgeous and she is looking stunning. Her glamour show is quite a feast to the eyes.

Mukesh Rishi had a laid back performance, Jayaprakash Reddy was standard, Ashish Vidyarthi did justice to his role. The comedy department played a good role with Raghu Babu, Ali, Brahmanandam doing a fine job. Venu Madhav was repetitive, Hema was brief, Duvvasi Mohan was okay. The others did as required.

The film finds traces of its storyline from hits like ‘Ready’ ‘Dhee’ etc. Though the overall presentation was quite stylish and modern, it is the quality of the script that lacked the depth to strike a chord with the audience.

The first half of the film goes in a rather mild manner and the second half is worth a watch. The makers should have focused on giving flavor to the romance track between the lead pair and also give a gripping climax.

Both didn’t happen here. Comedy was the savior for the film and technical aspects. This will appeal to the mass audience to an extent and it would take some aggressive publicity if the makers are looking for a sure shot success.

Average entertainer which could have been better.

Villagelo Vinayakudu Telugu Movie Review

It can be said that, in months, Villagelo Vinayakudu is one neat film that comes as a whiff of fresh air. A story with good entertainment values, it is targeted at every kind of audience and all age groups. Be it the sugar rush Saranya's bristling smile gives us or the innocent love she shares with her fatso lover boy Krishnudu, the light humour and the East Godavari essence, Villagelo... is entertaining in every aspect.

This one is a family entertainer and a love story that holds us to the seats despite being predictable. Sai Kiran, the director who hails from the Shekar Kammula school, does it again. In fact, he betters himself from his debut film Vinayakudu.

Coming to the story, Karthik (Krishnudu) is a brilliant Science student who secured 8th rank in the EAMCET, but has chosen to teach kindergarten kids. Kavya (Saranya), who is the daughter of the retired military officer Rao Ramesh, is a doctor by profession. They have been in love with each other for some days now, and Krishnudu is forcing her to tell her father the truth of their love. Saranya has been trying to let her father know of the affair since a year, but fear of rejection is stopping her. She tavels to her native village as she completes her medicine course and starts to introduce Karthik the Ram Charan, Karthik the NTR, Karthik the Mahesh Babu, except Karthik the Fatso. Family (minus the disciplinarian father) is dumbfounded upon seeing Karthik, when he suddenly appears in their aesthetically-rich house. Her father knows him only as a friend and nothing more. Intially reluctant to help the girl, they accept him gradually. The crux is to convince the father, who has a definite idea of her lovely daughter's ideal life-partner.

As Karthik tries to impress upon Rao Ramesh, one is reminded of Genelia's Hasini's (Bommarillu) ever-failing tantrums. Yet Vinayakudu is seems absolutely fresh. Unlike the puerile Hasini, Karthik is a mature individual who looks like a dimwit. Heroine's character is equally well-conceived. The heart-warming camaraderie the pair exude on the screen is the film's plus. Scenes like the one in which Krishnudu educates Divya (heroine's sister) to let her feelings known to her parents or where he equates ideal personalities like Lord Ram with parents, are superb. His Bongulo Chicken tastes good.

Dialogue (by Ramana Salva and Adivi) adds special flavour to the pace. Peformances of everyone is adequate. Yandamuri Veerendranath's character as the father's friend is humorous. Bharat as the fit military officer does justice. Special mention has to be made about Manikanth Kadri's music: Chinukai varadai... makes you float in air. His background score lends a levity feel to the movie. Vanamali's lyrics are natural. This film is watchable with the entire family and is devoid of violence or cheap comedy. The film will be a clear success in A and B class centers.

Kurradu Telugu Movie Review

Remake of Tamil superhit 'Polladhavan', 'Kurradu' is a film to watch out for. It's a film that is saved by a gripping narration, an intense screenplay coupled with the riveting performance of its lead Varun Sandesh, not to speak of the baddies' who pitch in equally powerful acting. The film launches lover boy Varun in a new vista and he glows like a star in it. You will be surprised to know that Varun is a good fit in a violence-significant film. No more mere lovey-dovey stories for this talent - Varun can ably deliver in a semi-action based movie and get our laurels.

The creative quotient is satisfactory. Coming to the story, Varun (Varun Sandesh), the son of a middle-class man Tanikella Bharani, is fit for nothing in the beginning. Though he wants to do something with his life, he knows he cannot get a job, just as he could not get a costly education, as his father is not someone who can bribe babus for a job to his son. On the night of his birthday, he spills out his frustration to his father who beats him for consuming liquor. Life changes for the good the next morning, when Bharani (good performance, as usual) gives away the sum he has saved for the daughter's wedding to Varun. The lad, who has been dreaming of owning a bike, gets one and whizzes off in life. A lucky talisman for him, he develops an emotional attachment to it as he sees it as the reason for his upward mobility. After it entered his life, he has got everything he had desired- father's affection, a job and Hema's (Neha Sharma) love for which he has been thirsting for two years now.

But there is more to what meets the eye. In an ironic twist, the same 'charm' turns out to be his nightmare. The society where Varun is fulfilling his ordinary dreams, is also the play field for drug-peddlers and ganja mafia, headed by Satya (Ravi Shankar P) and Bullet. The leitmotif is, of course, the bike. The innocent job-holder at a private bank is dragged into a bestial world. So long effeminate, he now turns gutsy and grudges Satya's disaffected brother Ravi. Unlike his nemesis, all Varun wants is his bike back. In no time, events spiral in such a way that he has to put up a fight for his life and save his family.

Terrific screenplay indeed. Scenes are so skilfully conceptualised that you will not blink your eyes. The story of how a no-nonsense middle-class youth finishes an illegitimate empire, not always by himself, is a brilliant idea. His tenacity wows Satya, who himself can massacre murderers single-handedly. He is Ravi's psychological trauma. Superbly written character, you will hum.

Performances are the biggest asset of this movie. As mentioned already, Varun is a revelation. Ravi Shankar, who is more famous for being a dubbing artist of worth, pitches in a good one. Neha Sharma has nothing to do in the proceedings, but she cackles up the screen. The actor who plays Ravi delivers ferocious acting output too. Acchu's music is already on the chart busters, but Koti's background score elevates crucial scenes. He has two separate intermezzos for the villains and the love birds.

As a debutante, Sandeep Gunnam proves his talent beyond doubt. A good director's hallmark is extracting good acting from his cast and on this yardstick, Sandeep scores.

Comedy is mediocre. But in the proceedings, especially after the first 25 minutes, its poverty does not trouble you much as you are already involved in the thrilling drama.

Artists Performance

bendu appa rao Bendu Appa Rao character is like a cakewalk for Allari Naresh. Allari Naresh has invented his own style of comedy and this movie perfectly complement his strengths. Kamna Jetmalani seems to have got some cosmetic work done to her nose and she is looking very glamorous in this movie. She did well in acting department. Meghana Raj is adequate. Srinivas Reddy and Uttej did the roles of hero's friends and they generated comedy. The characters of Suman Setty, Raghubabu, Dharmavarapu, Kondavalasa, Krishna Bhagawan and Ali are good. Ahuti Prasad steals the show again as heroine's father who is excessively fond of being a great host. Telangana Sakuntala is adequate.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - directon: The basic story of the movie is old-fashioned, but balances comedy and sentiment well. Screenplay of the film is neatly woven. You can see vintage EVV in this movie in terms of comedy and entertainment value. The comedy timing is very good. Most of the comedy is village-based. All the characters are written well to serve the entertainment purpose. However the entire story is predictable.

Other departments: Dialogues in the movie deserves an applause for the comedy quotient. Music by Koti resembles his music for EVV movies in 90's. Cinematography is adequate. Production values by Suresh Productions banner are decent.

Analysis: EVV seem to have found his vintage comic timing in this movie. He could able to generate comedy well in this movie, though he had done innumerable comedy flicks of this nature in 1990's. Offlate, he lost touch with the pulse of audiences. With Bendu Appa Rao, EVV proves that he is still in the race. The plus points of the movie are Allari Naresh and comedy. On the flip side, the entire movie is like an old-fashioned one. On a whole, Allari Naresh comes up with another decent comedy flick after his last hit Blade Babji. This movie has enough potential to make money at box office for it's entertainment value. You may watch it for entertainment.
