Avatar wins 4 Golden Globe nominations

The much-awaited James Cameron’s Avatar is already in the headlines and this time, not for its spectacular visual effects and emotional connect, but for its nomination in Golden Globe awards, one of the world's renowned award shows. The categories are Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

Produced by 20th Century Fox, Avatar, an epic action adventure, was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist.

It is the story of a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

Cameron’s ability to combines elements of massive spectacle and intimate character to tell a emotional tale is believed to have driven the nominations for the above category.

Starring Sam Worthington, Siqourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana, Avatar releases worldwide on Dec 18 in 2D as well as 3D. In India, the film will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
